Poignant!
"Do what you feel in your heart to be right- for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't." Eleanor Roosevelt
What if...
Having been intimately involved in the sport of dogs as a successful breeder for over 40 years has provided me with more insight into the dog game than the average fancier might have. The one common reoccurrence that I have observed among the breeders of the four breeds that I have been intimately involved with is that the people within each breed often fight against each other. One would expect for all of the beagle people or collie people or just fill in the breed people to ban together as a tight knit group. After all, each person within a breed considers themselves to be smarter and luckier than the average bear to have chosen their very special breed. It could be assumed then that all of those people within that breed would ban together as a family against the rest of the dog world. After all, the Ibizan (or just fill in the breed) people are kindred spirits aren't they? They all want the best for their breed, don't they?
The democrats are going after each other this year to the detriment of their beloved democratic party in much the same way that people within our breed are going after each other. This divisiveness only weakens the potential for forward progress of the breed. Just imagine how great the breeders could make their own breed if they would really work together instead of trying to undermine each other. Before you attack others within your beloved breed, stop for a moment to ask yourself. " Is what I am doing contributing to the betterment of my breed or am I contaminating my breed with negativity?" What if we individually would choose to do the right and virtuous thing? What if we as the guardians of our breed could choose to not be like the other breed's breeders? What if we could choose to take the high road, maybe even do unto others like we would want them to do to us? What if .............................

A dog had followed his owner to school. His owner was a
fourth grader at a public elementary school. However,
when the bell rang, the dog sidled inside the building and
made it all the way to the child's classroom before a
teacher noticed and shoo'ed him outside, closing the
door behind him. The dog sat down, whimpered and
stared at the closed doors. Then God appeared beside
the dog, patted his head, and said, "Don't feel bad fella'....
they won't let ME in either."

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self centered
Forgive them anyway
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives
Be kind anyway
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies
Succeed anyway
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you
Be honest and frank anyway
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight
Build anyway
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous
Be happy anyway
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow
Do good anyway
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough
Give the world the best you've got anyway
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God
It was never between you and them anyway

"I have no ambition in the world but one, and that is to be a Fireman. The
position in the eyes of some, appears to be a lowly one, but we who know the
work which a Fireman has to do believe is a noble calling. Our proudest
moment is to save.......lives. Under the impulse of such thought the
nobility of the occupation thrills us and stimulates us to deeds of
daring......even supreme sacrifice." Edward F. Crocker, Chief of NYFD (1899-1911)

and God created woman...
By the time the Lord made woman, he was into His sixth day of working overtime. An angel appeared and said, "Why are you spending so much time on this one? And the Lord answered, "Have you seen My spec sheet on her?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic, have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable and able to run on diet coke and leftovers, have a lap that can hold four children at one time, have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart -- and she will do everything with only two hands." The angel was astounded at the requirements. "Only two hands!? No way! And that's just on the standard model? That's too much work for one day. Wait until tomorrow to finish." But I won't," the Lord protested. "I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to My own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick AND can work 18 hour days." The angel moved closer and touched the woman. "But you have made her so soft, Lord." She is soft," the Lord agreed, "but I have also made her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish." "Will she be able to think?" asked the angel. The Lord replied, "Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason and negotiate." The angel then noticed something, and reaching out, touched the woman's cheek. "Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model. I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one." "That's not a leak," the Lord corrected, "that's a tear!" "What's the tear for?" the angel asked. The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her pain her disappointment, her love, her loneliness, her grief and her pride." The angel was impressed. "You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything! Woman is truly amazing." And she is! Women have strengths that amaze men. They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy. They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous. They fight for what they believe in. They stand up to injustice. They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution. They go without so their family can have. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. They love unconditionally. They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards. They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding. Their hearts break when a friend dies. They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left. They know that a hug and a kiss can help to heal a broken heart. Women come in all sizes,in all colors and shapes. They'll drive, fly, walk, run or email you to show how much they care about you. The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning! They bring joy and hope. They have compassion and ideals. They give moral support to their family and friends. Women have vital things to say and everything to give. However, if there is one flaw in women, it is that they tend to forget their worth.

Great answer to the question: does evil exist?
The university professor challenged his students with this question. Did God create everything that exists? A student bravely replied, "Yes, he did!" "God created everything?" the professor asked. "Yes sir", the student replied. The professor answered, "If God created everything, then God created evil since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are, then God is evil". The professor was quite pleased with himself and boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.
Another student raised his hand and said, "Can I ask you a question professor?"
"Of course", replied the professor The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"
The professor replied, "Of course it exists, have you never been cold?" The students snickered at the young man's question.
The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (- 460 degrees F) is the total absence of heat. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat.
The student continued. "Professor, does darkness exist?"
The professor responded, "Of course it does".
The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir. Darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."
Finally the young man asked the professor. "Sir, does evil exist?"
Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course as I have already said. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil."
To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light."
The professor sat down. The young mans name --- Albert Einstein

This was sent to me by my friend, Chicki Runnquist, Zchatsaj's Borzoi, Sweden
Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim
Just to show that I'm thinking of him."
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away,
"Here's a telegram sir," "Jim died today."
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean.
If you love someone, tell them.
Don't be afraid to express yourself.
Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.
Because when you decide that it is the right time
it might be too late.
Seize the day. Never have regrets.
And most importantly, stay close to your friends
and family, for they have helped
make you the person that you are today.

Why dogs don't live as long as people
I think this is comforting to anybody that has lost or will lose a
beloved friend.
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish
Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their
little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping
for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer.
I told the family there were no miracles left for Belker, and offered to
perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we
made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for
the four-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt Shane could
learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family
surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last
time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on.
Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy
seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion.
We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about
the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned
me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.
He said, "Everybody is born so that they can learn how to live a good
life--like loving everybody and being nice, right?"
The four-year-old continued, "Well, animals already know how to do that,
so they don't have to stay as long."
AMEN.

This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western part of
North Dakota after the recent snow storm.
WEATHER BULLETIN
Up here in the Northern Plains we just recovered from an historic event
may I even say a "weather event" of "biblical proportions" --- with an
historic blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that
broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of
motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of
communities, and cut power to 10's of thousands.
FYI:
George Bush did not come....
FEMA did nothing....
No one howled for the government...
No one blamed the government
No one even uttered an expletive on TV...
Jesse Jackson nor Al Sharpton visited;
Our Mayor's did not blame Bush nor anyone else;
Our Governor did not blame Bush nor anyone else;
CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX, or NBC did not visit - nor report on this category 5
snow storm;
Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards;
No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House;
No one looted;
Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something;
Nobody expected the government to do anything either;
No Larry King, No Bill O'Reilly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews, and No
Geraldo Rivera;
No Sean Penn, No Barbara Streisand, No Hollywood types to be found;
Nope, we just melted the snow for water; sent out caravans of SUV's to
pluck people out of snow engulfed cars;
The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a
penny;
Local restaurants made food, and the police and fire departments delivered
it to the snow bound families
Families took in the stranded people...total strangers.
We fired up wood stoves;
Broke out coal-oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns;
We put on extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die"
We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a
mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes
for 'sittin at home' checks.
Even though a "Category 5" blizzard of this scale has never fallen this
early...we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.
"In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about 43
degrees North Latitude, 90% most of the world's social problems evaporate."
It does seem that way, at least to me.. I hope this gets passed on..
Maybe, SOME people will get the message,
The world does not owe you a living....

Today, when I awoke, I suddenly realized that this is the best day
of my life, ever There were times when I wondered if I would make it to today; but I
did!
And because I did I'm going to celebrate!
Today, I'm going to celebrate what an unbelievable life I have had so far:
the accomplishments, the many blessings, and, yes, even the hardships
because they have served to make me stronger.
I will go through this day with my head held high and a happy
heart.
I will marvel at God's seemingly simple gifts:
the morning dew,
the sun,
the clouds,
the trees,
the flowers,
the birds.
Today, none of these miraculous creations will escape my notice
Today, I will share my excitement for life with other people.
I'll make someone smile.
I'll go out of my way to perform an unexpected act of kindness for
someone I don't even know. Today, I'll give a sincere compliment to someone who
seems down. I'll tell a child how special he is, and I'll tell someone I love
just how deeply I care for them and how much they mean to me.
Today is the day I quit worrying about what I don't have and start
being grateful for all the wonderful things God has already given me.
I'll remember that to worry is just a waste of time because my faith in God
and his Divine Plan ensures everything will be just fine.
And tonight, before I go to bed, I'll go outside and raise my eyes to
the heavens. I will stand in awe at the beauty of the stars and the
moon, and I will praise God for these magnificent treasures.
As the day ends and I lay my head down on my pillow,
I will thank the Almighty for the best day of my life.
And I will sleep the sleep of a contented child,
excited with expectation because
I know tomorrow is going to be the best day of my life, ever!

All God's creatures praise Him (Psalm 145:10). It is only mankind who needs
forgiving and saving and teaching as to how to worship (Psalm 36 & 51), the

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply, Speak kindly. Leave the rest to

Dance like nobody's watching. Sing like nobody's listening.
Live like it's Heaven on Earth.
Many years ago when an adored dog died, a great friend, a bishop said to me
'You must always remember that, as far as the Bible is concerned, God only
threw the humans out of Paradise.'"
