You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't."</I>   Eleanor Roosevelt</div> <bR> <div> What if...</div> <div> Having been intimately involved in the sport of dogs as a successful breeder for over 40 years has provided me with more insight into the dog game than the average fancier might have. The one common reoccurrence that I have observed among the breeders of the four breeds that I have been intimately involved with is that the people within each breed often fight against each other. One would expect for all of the beagle people or collie people or just fill in the breed people to ban together as a tight knit group. After all, each person within a breed considers themselves to be smarter and luckier than the average bear to have chosen their very special breed. It could be assumed then that all of those people within that breed would ban together as a family against the rest of the dog world. After all, the Ibizan (or just fill in the breed) people are kindred spirits aren't they? They all want the best for their breed, don't they? </div> <div> The democrats are going after each other this year to the detriment of their beloved democratic party in much the same way that people within our breed are going after each other. This divisiveness only weakens the potential for forward progress of the breed. Just imagine how great the breeders could make their own breed if they would really work together instead of trying to undermine each other. Before you attack others within your beloved breed, stop for a moment to ask yourself. " Is what I am doing contributing to the betterment of my breed or am I contaminating my breed with negativity?" What if we individually would choose to do the right and virtuous thing? What if we as the guardians of our breed could choose to not be like the other breed's breeders? What if we could choose to take the high road, maybe even do unto others like we would want them to do to us? The angel was astounded at the requirements. "Only two hands!? No way! And that's just on the standard model? That's too much work for one day. Wait until tomorrow to finish." But I won't," the Lord protested. "I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to My own heart.  She already heals herself when she is sick AND can work 18 hour days." The angel moved closer and touched the woman. "But you have made her so soft, Lord."  She is soft," the Lord agreed, "but I have also made her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish." "Will she be able to think?" asked the angel. The Lord replied, "Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason and negotiate." The angel then noticed something, and reaching out, touched the woman's cheek. "Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model. I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one." "That's not a leak," the Lord corrected, "that's a tear!"  "What's the tear for?" the angel asked. The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her pain her disappointment, her love, her loneliness, her grief and her pride." The angel was impressed. "You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything! Woman is truly amazing." And she is!  Women have strengths that amaze men. They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy. They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous. They fight for what they believe in. They stand up to injustice. They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.  They go without so their family can have. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. They love unconditionally. They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards. They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding. Their hearts break when a friend dies. They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left. They know that a hug and a kiss can help to heal a broken heart. Women come in all sizes,in all colors and shapes. They'll drive, fly, walk, run or email you to show how much they care about you. The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning! They bring joy and hope. They have compassion and ideals. They give moral support to their family and friends.  Women have vital things to say and everything to give.  However,  if there is one flaw in women, it is that they tend to forget their worth.</B></I></div> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <I><B>***********************************</B></I></div> <bR> <div> Great answer to the question: does evil exist? </div> <div> The university professor challenged his students with this question. Did God create everything that exists? A student bravely replied, "Yes, he did!" "God created everything?" the professor asked. "Yes sir", the student replied. The professor answered, "If God created everything, then God created evil since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are, then God is evil". The professor was quite pleased with himself and boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth. </div> <div> Another student raised his hand and said, "Can I ask you a question professor?" </div> <div> "Of course", replied the professor The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?" </div> <div> The professor replied, "Of course it exists, have you never been cold?" According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (- 460 degrees F) is the total absence of heat. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat. </div> <div> The student continued. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their </div> <div> little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping </div> <div> for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. </div> <bR> <div> I told the family there were no miracles left for Belker, and offered to </div> <div> perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we </div> <div> made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for </div> <div> the four-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt Shane could </div> <div> learn something from the experience. </div> <bR> <div> The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family </div> <div> surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last </div> <div> time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. </div> <bR> <div> Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy </div> <div> seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. </div> <bR> <div> We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about </div> <div> the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. </div> <bR> <div> Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why." </div> <bR> <div> Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned </div> <div> me.
